nw1 Wavetable Module for Eurorack

mod1 Modulator

Wavetable synthesis, pioneered by Wolfgang Palm in the original PPG synthesizer, is an extremely powerful sound generating technology suited to producing all kinds of vivid metallic hues and digital clangs as well as organic, bell-like timbres with truly ear-opening results. Waldorf’s first entry into the Eurorack world delivers this powerful class of sounds via an advanced wavetable engine with independent control of spectral envelope and noise. The highly-prized wavetables from Waldorf’s venerated Microwave and Wave synthesizers are included along with an integrated speech synthesizer for converting words (even plain text!) into wavetables for playback and processing.

Creating user wavetables is as easy as recording the audio; the nw1 automatically takes the source and turns it into a wavetable via a process known as time-domain multiple foldover analysis. (Wavetables can also be loaded via USB.) Playback is cyclic with optional modulation of travel speed, position, spectrum, and more.
